Appalachian President: Anonymous Comments Now Allowed

A bit of housekeeping... my apologies, but when I set this blog up I didn't realize that anonymous comments were disabled. I've remedied that now. Feel free to comment. As long as it's not dastardly over the top, it'll stay there.

Welcome to Appalalchian President Blog

The team behind Appaalchian President believes Fred Thompson's family ties to, political roots in, and currents connections with the mountainous areas of Appalachia will be an important factor in his bid for the Presidency. Further, while this site is principally dedicated to Appalachia, we realize there are many similarities to other places in small town America. We will work to explore these Appalachian and small town America themes through stories, pictures, and, hopefully, video and audio posts, in ways that we hope will spur a positive discussion about Thompson's roots and candidacy.

For now, the App. Prez project will be housed at this blog. But in a few weeks we will go live with AppalachianPresident.com. It's our goal to have a fully staffed, volunteer team in place by September 1st. We hope to offer a total multi-media package to our viewers, complete with interviews, the latest news, and cutting edge research. We also hope to create endorsement pages for Appalachian officials throughout West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee and Ohio who want to see Fred win.

I promise you this: We'll make every effort to include you in our team and to promote your work. I believe strongly in the Morton Blackwell principle of political leadership that says: "Give 'em a title and get 'em involved."

Finally, while this project won't be expensive, it won't be free either. We hope to largely self fund it, but it's possible we'll ask for corporate sponsors to fund the IT stuff that can't be easily paid out of pocket. Although we're still working on the details, it's probable that such donations would go directly to the IT folks.
